It's not that I don't like dogs. It's not that I don't like cats....well, I've never liked cats but for no other reason than so many other people didn't like cats so I guess I just let their opinions shape mine. That's weird for me! I always liked puppies and kittens but then they grow into dogs and cats.
As I've thought about this a bit, I just don't like the responsibility animals require. I don't always think it's a good steward of resources....as long as people are still tithing, giving to missions, taking care of their own, etc. then it's fine but when people can't "afford" to do these things because they have so many mouths to feed...I think it's a bit ridiculous. Yes, God blesses us with many things to enjoy, such as animals but He certainly didn't intend on them becoming our focus or idols.
So, with all that said. We began with Squirt (The Turtle) then several months ago we acquired Landry (The Cat), which was indeed a HUGE step for me. The weekend my sweet hubby thought it was a good idea and time for the kids to have a D.O.G. We decided a long time ago that, yes, the kids need a dog and when we live in the country that would be a great idea to have some dogs. Well, I guess we decided that we may not ever live in the country or have land so why not. Me, striving to be the supportive wife and mother in all areas of our lives, said, "whatever Daddy decided!" He decided that we needed the puppy.
Now, in addition to Squirt and Landry, our home as been abundantly blessed by Decker!
Even if "Momma ain't happy".....Daddy is. This morning he came and said to me, (in a weird little school boy voice) "the puppy is so cute, he goes (then Brandon wiggles...not kidding) and he and the cat are being friendly now!" I think my hubby is happy, therefore....I'm happy.
I did voice my opinion....."if you get a dog, I should get an orphan"
I don't think my Christmas card has room for anymore names.......

yea! how fun to have a new puppy! what kind of puppy is decker? you'll have to post a picture of him somtime. decker is a cute name.. how did y'all choose it?
